Each of the Rinsey paintings is on either side of the same wall. Just after breakfast on a warm Spring morning, the hedges were spattered with the pink, blue and white of campions. The road side was laced bluebells and cow parsley, with dashes of yellow from primulas. The air was crisp and there was a haze over the sea to the right, in the distance. Those typically windblown trees - Monterey cyprus - were almost black in the bright light. Through the gateway on the right hand wall, there was a brilliant, acid green field, recently cut. The high Cornish stone and earth walls were all sprouting with vivid colour. The scene was almost unpaintable, it had so much life.
