Until my early teens, I thought the sea was grey or brown. Then we went to Cornwall, where the sea was brilliant green; and I bought my first oil paints to capture it. That's where most of my painting inspiration still comes from: Sea, memories, landscape. The movement, changing light and seasons, the geology, the past, the spirit of place. The energy of creation.

My art has no message, I don't feel any responsibility to give one, it's just what I observe and make of it. In fact, it's painting, not art when I do it.
